It came out today that the Mayor (Ray Nagin) has a 31% approval rating… Yikes, that’s not just low, that’s President Bush low. And I hate to say it, but we have no one to blame but ourselves. We screamed for change after Hurricane Katrina but we didn’t have the sack to vote for it when election time came. It’s almost like we’re just looking for a reason to complain…

Gee, maybe that’s because all those evacuees who never ended up coming back were permitted to vote in the election. His speech at the MLK Center in Atlanta was brilliant in that it rallied the displaced against “those folks Uptown”. The never-to-return evacuees got to give those lucky residents who lived in “the sliver by the river” the middle finger. It was shameless but a great move by him to win re-election. Don’t be a hater Stevie.
But what do you care? Don’t you live in KENNER now?

Well to take that leap you’d have to assume that most of those residents knew they were never coming back and that it was their choice to stay away. I don’t buy that, come on! Most displaced residents still want to come back if they would be given a chance to. And even if they weren’t coming back, hometown pride would prevent them from voting for the GREATER of two evils. Yes, displaced New Orleanians still consider themselves New Orleanians. Don’t be a conspiracy theorist Barrett.
