Is anyone else not that excited about the new Indiana Jones movie? I know, sacrilege, and I’m an Indiana Jones fan! First of all, the first three movies told pretty much the whole story, what else is there to tell. The last one even gave us a little history about young Indiana Jones. AND it was called the LAST crusade. I guess the title referred to them finding the Grail so no more holy wars were needed, but at least the suggestion that that was the last movie was there.
Secondly, Harrison Ford is like 62, he’s almost a senior citizen, what can we expect from the old man in this movie that he hasn’t already done in the previous ones? I guess that daring wheelchair lagoon chase is still a possibility. Ya gotta figure Shia Leboef is gonna do most of the heavy lifting in this movie, I hope Sean Connery doesn’t come back and make poor old Indy look bad. Somehow that guy is just timeless.
Finally, the title is crap. The first 3 had cool or at least passable titles: Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, tell me more… but this one is called Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Why do I feel like Spielberg and Lucas were playing Drunk Mad Libs when they came up with that title. “Okay, give me a noun” “Dog” “No something good” “Skull” “Okay what kind of skull?” “Bony” “What? Bony? No, something that makes less sense, don’t you know how to play this game?” “Oh okay, Crystal.” “Crystal Skull! Badass! That makes no sense at all!”
Sorry, I’m not sold. I’ll wait for it to come on Showtime.
