Is it me or would Carly Smithson have won American Idol if this was Seasons 1, 2, or 3. It seems since then the judges have been stressing performance and originality over voice quality. But Kelly Clarkson was all about voice quality! I seriously don’t think Kelly would win if she was a contestant in AI this year. Here are the power rankings:

I disagree, winning AI is more than a good voice, it’s the total package, voice, stage presence, personality, and connecting with the audience. Kelly mastered that, and I don’t think Carly did. She had personality, but, never seemed to connect with the audience. Kelly on the other hand, besides her immense vocals, had everyone in love with her dorkyness, and girl next door demeanor. People loved her for those things, and still do. Carly will probably do well though, other cast offs, with less talent than her, have done fine.
