and another edition of 5 things a guy wouldn’t know about being pregnant

At this stage in the game these are 5 stats about being pregnant.

1. The baby is about 3 lbs and anywhere between 11-14 inches. The baby takes up pretty much the entire uterine cavity. And this makes it hard to bend over, tie shoes, paint toenails, shave legs…etc.

2. Because of an additional secretion of pregnancy hormones which loosens up the body joints. In case of many women, the third trimester could be a trying time due to increased emotional changes and mood swings.

3. The baby becomes quite senstive to the surroundings and is aware of happenings around. The baby has definite sleep and waking patterns and the expectant mother is able to identify these.

4. Your baby is making breathing movements through his open nostrils but no air is coming in

5. Breastfeeding isn’t the easiest thing to master plus the constant use of your nips can create a lot of pain - so a friend suggested loufahing them to get them ready/tougher before the birth.

thanks for listening this morning if you did and thanks for checking out the blog!

lately

I have been lazy about my blog, haven’t I!
So I hosting an event at Suede Blue in Roseville tomorrow for Dr. Rasi - my dentist where I get my Invisaline - so fun and such good food.
Anyway so today I went out to get something to wear to the event. I am not mentioning WHERE - but I could not have been MORE annoyed with the sales girl there. I usually get a long really well with sales people and this woman wasn’t rude, she was just USELESS! I am a hands on person when it comes to shopping. I like the sales person to bring me clothing they think would be good or help me with sizes…the worse thing is having to puddleduck around the store in a clothes that don’t fit while you track down a larger/smaller size shirt. ya know?! Well this chick didn’t DO anything. She just sat at her register looking at her emails. Finally I just got dressed and left…why waste my time with that place? But I tell my sister what I am doing and she tells me she’s complete opposite. She likes sales people to leave her alone. She doesn’t want to talk to anyone and she doesn’t want their opinion of what she looks like in the clothes. I just can’t understand why you WOULDN’T??!?! But it made me think…are you a vocal hands on shopper who loves the help or someone who just wants to be left alone?
I did finally find a GREAT shirt that I can wear now and after baby is born I will say this- I got that at S.W.A.K. at the Fountains in Roseville. (Very helpful in there- let me tell you!)
Afterward I went to Whole Foods to get something to eat and drink. If you haven’t tried the coconut water you need too. It’s so refreshing and has so many electrolytes it’s so good for you and I am sure your baby will love it! I got the Mango flavored and the Passion fruit. YUM!
Hope you are doing really good and much love to all the mamas- I know there are a few of you giving birth in August so GOOD LUCK Ladies!
hearts-
Kelly

Fast Fact:

Animal foods are the only natural sources of vitamin B12, which can help prevent birth defects. Great sources of B12: beef, liver, salmon, shellfish, and eggs. It’s in many cereals but the label should read “100 percent fortified”
All you mamas out there have a fantastic weekend- think about what you’re eating and ask yourself “will this benefit me AND the baby?”.
Much love thanks for checking out the blog and don’t forget to vote (via comment or email) on the color scheme you like best!!!! The colors are belowe blog entry.

get pretty

So thank you for all the wonderful suggestions via email and comments about what to decorate the babies room. You all must be seriously reading my mind because MOST of you said “beach theme!” Which, is my most favorite place in the whole world and something I was thinking already! Bunch of mind readers! BUT before you think I am gonna decorate the babies room like a damn Red Lobster (fake fishing nets and plastic crabs on the wall) think again. It’s mostly about the colors. I want it to feel “beachy” not to actually be THEMED. Does that make sense? (Don’t get me wrong- there isn’t anything WRONG with Red Lobster God knows I love their chedder bay biscuits…can I get an AMEN!)
SO here’s where we’re at…wall wise what do you think. Just an accent wall? Two walls? Stripes? The whole thing? I’d love your input! Color Choices
So all of these colors WOULD NOT be on a wall….they would be incorporated into the room. If you had to choose which “set” of colors do you like the best?
I won’t say which one I like the best but all of them have stuff I really like about it.
I am off to get my hair did at Cutloose Hair Salon. YES! I am in desperate need of hair help!!!
I wanna do something different- I will let ya know how it goes!

decorate?

So they expect you to make a baby nursery- ok that sounds easy enough…BUT how do I decide on something like colors, theme and wood grain color? I guess just go with what I like? Well I need to desperately paint. The room baby boy will be chillin in is bright pink! I mean he might love bright pink at some point in his life, but as for now and for awhile I will be doing the decision making FOR him. lol.
So I wanna hear some ideas. What are you guys doing for nursery? I have a few color ideas and themes…but any advice would be great!!!!!
In the next coming days I am gonna post some things that I would LOVE your opinions on…ya know..cus 500 heads are better than one…or two if you count my husbands….lol.
This weekend was sooo busy I think I over did it. Then doing the show today, man I am BEAT! Can I just say how thankful I am for my air conditioning!!! WOOT!
ok and I am way thankful for everyone who checks out the blogs and writes emails and leaves comments…you guys rock my pregnant socks!

preggers clothes

I have gotten a lot of emails from new mamas-to-be and some that are in their 2nd trimester asking what’s the deal with clothing.
I will say that if you can stay in your normal clothing as long as possible then you will SAVE huge. BUT I know that isn’t always possible so here is a checklist of things I thought came in VERY helpful.
Since a lot of people have to dress up or look presentable for their jobs…might I suggest leggings. You can pair them with short dresses, long shirts, baby doll tops anything. The key though, is they have to cover your ass…or you are gonna look like a ballerina…UNLESS you have super skinny legs than more power to ya…I just think that leggings are better suited for shirts that at LEAST cover your bum. Right?
Also the Bella-Band- this piece of heaven sent material is available at Target, Belly Bou, Nordstroms, pretty much anywhere there is pregnancy clothing…so get it. You will be able to unbutton your pants but still keep them up using this lovely bit of stretchy material that literally just looks like the bottom of a tank top when you put it on…of course you have to wear a shirt with it…but its also nice when your belly button pops out because it covers it nicely. I got mine in Black with lace on the bottom…what a lifesaver!
Lets talk tops…they have to be LONG…..having a bare midriff was cool when it was Jen Aniston “pregnant” on Friends in the last season…BUT lets be honest…employers don’t want to see your belly NORMALLY so why show them your baby bump….Long tanks can be found just about anywhere. Old Navy, Target, Wal-mart just put them under your regular tops for now and be surprised how much mileage you get out of them.
And last but not least, SLIP-ONS! No need to be bending over trying to tie laces or thread buckles when you already feel bloated and your pants are on the verge of popping…Just get some comfortable sandals or flats that you can rely on everyday. I mentioned this a couple of days ago in my Hip Tip but Fit Flops are freaking wonderful for cushion and support and also getting all you can out of walking the mall or at the grocery store. Fit Flops are sold at VictoriaSecret.com or Amazon.com. They are getting cuter every year.
Now those are some basics. I got roll down skirts at Old Navy in just about every color and wear them with long tanks and tees. I also got some grey and black gaucho shorts at Target with a roll down top too. They can be dressed up or down…they are freaking great! If you have a friend who is your size whose already had a baby ask if you can borrow some clothes like jeans since they tend to be more expensive. Ya never know she may actually give them to you if she is done having babies! Or browse Craigslist if you are really in a pinch. I say that if it’s your first baby then maybe investing in some good jeans from Gap or Belly Bou might not be a bad idea…at least then you will have them for your OTHER pregnancies!
Sorry this got really long, but if you have something to add just put it in the comment. Good luck ladies and remember you can still be yourself and have mad style with a baby bump! You are hot (literally! I swear I am furnace!) but seriously sport the bump and just stay comfy!
lots of love

5 MORE things a man would never know about being pregnant

So I am in the 7th month or Third Trimester so it’s time for another edition of this list of 5 things a man might not know about being pregnant

-The baby is now about three pounds (about the weight of a bag of flour)

- Very fine downy soft hair is now covering the babies skin

- 50% of pregnant women experience heart burn. It’s because the hormone Progesterone loosens a valve in the digestive tract and it causes acid to move up and burn your throat. To avoid this eat small meals, and don’t sleep flat on your back or bend over too much.

- The baby is the length of an average woman’s arm from wrist to elbow.

- The baby is now starting to get cute baby fat and the babies eye lashes are growing!

I got a comment/email/question about pregnancy wardrobe so if you have any tips or tricks especially to avoid spending a TON of money on preggers clothes then comment or email me - the next post is gonna be about that…Kelly@endonline.com

what a weekend

Friday was great…HOT but great…we went to a wedding, and the reception was outside, around the pool - YIKES! If you remember Friday was like 105 degrees holy moly. It was fun, lots of dancing, really good food, but it was HOT! And this pregnant girl could feel herself expanding like a hot air balloon.lol.
Saturday was a really fun day because it started off getting to see our baby boy! No I did not go into labor! We went to Invision Ultrasound in Folsom. I love going over there. Cynthia, the owner of Invision, is so cool and relaxed and takes her time to find the best positions to see you baby. I freaking love her! And the best part was little dude is growing and changing so much since the last time we saw him.
can you tell that’s a baby? lol…that’s him! He has his hands behind his head like in total chill-ax mode and it looks like little bubbles are coming out of his mouth. Such a thrill to see him! To see more about Invision Ultrasound and other pics of babies in the womb check out invisionultrasound.com !
Anyway so we were super stoked after we left and headed over to California Pizza Kitchen…love some CPK! We get their Greek Pizza…it’s so refreshing on hot days but still fills ya up!
Ok so Sunday rolls around and I am heading over to Whole Foods in Roseville. I am stopped at the light, first one in line, and just chilling there when WHAM! I hear a pop! I look behind me to see this women slam into me and the guy behind her slammed into her…so it was like a total chain reaction. LUCKILY there wasn’t a scratch on my car…but their cars were a different story…honestly I don’t know what made that guy push on the gas at a STOP LIGHT but who knows…I was a little frazzled to say the least but so thankful we were ok.
When I first got pregnant I read about this seat cover that tilts your forward so your seat belt isn’t across your baby bump. I also read up on exactly HOW to wear your seatbelt in case of an accident…I always make sure it’s low and across my hips and never across the bump. Many car manuals have a section about seat belts and how to wear them if you are pregnant. Check it out if you haven’t.
Anyway eventually I did manage to get my groceries, in case you were wondering. I also decided I deserve a treat. Whole Foods had a sale on these chocolate covered banana Popsicles- I am gonna go have one now. Much love and be safe!!!!

summa delights!

I am back and better than ever. Ok that was dramatic, but it’s true. I am out of my funk that was Monday and usually by Wednesday I am doing good. And alas I am. I had lunch today with some great friends at Costa Vida in Roseville. The discussion was transition and I feel like everyone I know is wanting some sort of change in their lives. Be it a new job, a new house, a new baby…we were all talking about what was NEXT. So little do we just say “ahhhhh” and enjoy the moment. ya know? It’s really hard to do that sometimes, but I think I get so wrapped up in looking ahead that I rarely just breath and take in the day. Whether it is stress, or just being busy my mind goes 100 mph about the next thing on my plate. (Including what I will eat! tee hee) So after lunch I was driving home and I started to reflect and be thankful for what I have got…not think about the future, not dwell on problems, or try to call someone to chat…just sat and drove and was “taking in the day”. Honestly it was therapeutic. And it did calm me down and got my head clear. Much needed.
And as I finish that last sentence I will now fill you in on what’s coming up…lol. Hey we can’t meditate all day …nothing will get done! lol.
Tomorrow I have an appointment with Dr.Rasi…I am already on Invisaligne tray 12 - I only have 18 total so this is really going quick. If you haven’t heard we are doing a special question and answer night at Suede Blue in Roseville in August- if you or someone you know is thinking about getting Invisalign I would HIGHLY recommend signing up (Endonline.com) and getting on the guest list. It will be a totally no-pressure, bring-a-friend, eating drinking event…BUT if you do decide to schedule an appointment then you get 1000$ off your entire bill for Invisalign…as someone who HAS them that is a great discount for reals!!!! I am gonna post some progress pics of these chompers…I can’t believe how much has changed in just a short 6 months. Anyway I also have a bachelorette party to go to tomorrow night (it’s a low key one, basically a lingerie party) My friend Heather is getting married on Friday so it’s just a girls night…should be fun. Lingerie what a funny thing…you get so much of it when you get married and then you wear it for like 2.5 seconds…you honestly could just wear the same thing every time..guys don’t care really…ya know? Thanks for all the emails and comments lately. I try to respond to all the emails as fast as possible!

seriously?!

I have got to be the most pathetic person ever. I mean it. I will be 7 months pregnant next week and I feel incapable of a lot right now. OK so nothing fits. I have gotten prego shirt after prego shirt but I feel like I am expanding before my very eyes…which includes bras…I am gonna have a damn Victoria Secret in my closet before this whole thing is over! It’s sad but my mom bought me this totally crazy strong sports bra a while ago and it’s just now starting to fit (thanks for getting size HUGE mom!) I feel like a total volley ball player in it…too bad I don’t have the Olympic Volleyball Teams abs…eek!
so I high jacked a white t-shirt from Brandon’s closet and a pair of boxer shorts and all I want is some darn watermelon but I can’t go out in this get up…so I am sipping water as I type dreaming about SOME sort of fruit. oh and I need gas in my car…but I am too lazy to go get it. HA! I know what you’re thinking “she needs to pull herself together!” and you are right.
I know I sound like I am complaining but this stuff comes and goes…I am so thrilled to be having baby boy here in a few months- it’s just at the moment I need a hug! or some watermelon! either would do…
sorry if this post is so pathetic…I promise tomorrow will be different. now, if you don’t mind I have to cut the tag out of this sports bra…it’s starting to itch.
