26:51

That was my finishing time.  26 minutes and 51 seconds.  Ran it all.  No walking!  It was my first 5k…I didn’t really know what to expect.  I used to run a lot in high school, but it’s been some time since then.  If I was asked to do it again, I’d totally do another one.

While you run, your mind plays tricks on you.  regardless of how much you train or prepare yourself, you’re never quite prepared for that little voice inside of you.  We all have that voice!  It’s the same one that tells you to eat more, workout less and not live up to your potential.  He’s a jerk!  I’m thinking about giving him a name…more on that at a later time.

I had just finished the 2 mile mark on the run and I heard “good job…take a break”.  I heard it loud and clear!  It wasn’t a song on my radio…it was the inner pansy in me.  How do I know it wasn’t the radio?  Because right at the 2 mile marker my stupid armband radio DIED!  You never know how much you miss the station till you cant hear it.  All I heard was the pounding of my feet on the pavement and the heavy breathing I was doing for the last mile and some change.

I actually considered walking a little bit and then….a woman passed me pushing a stroller with 2 kids. LOL!  To my defense, she was in great shape and had one of those running strollers.  It was a sign!  One of the reasons I got on this health kick was for my daughter Erin.  I figured that God might have sent this woman to pass me in a stroller so that I wouldn’t wuss out.  Or maybe i just run so slow that people pushing strollers could pass me? haha!  Either way, I’m calling it a sign!  All in all, I’m proud of myself and will look to improve upon my time for future runs.

The countdown is on for Thanksgiving!  I heard Heidi say on the news this morning that the average person eats 4000 calories on Thanksgiving day!  OMG!  That’s more than twice my daily allowance!  I need to drop a pound or two more before the holiday to give myself a little room to cheat.  mmmmmmm…pecan pie from Texas…..
