Trader Joe’s yum-fest!

 So I love me some fruit!  Plus if you’re on a diet it’s all about the fruits and veggies baby!  STILL…when you’re rushing to get ready for work and running late, the last thing you have time for is chopping up some mangoes or packing carrots for lunch.  Well that’s where Trader Joe’s comes in!  They have ready to eat packages of delicious fruits and veggies for your lunching pleasure:)  I get the mango and chow down during the High Noon Countdown!  The best part…I eat the whole darn thing and don’t feel an ounce of guilt because what I just ate was super healthy! AND it fills you up too!  The Sac CoOp has these packages too.  Oh and if you grab a Trader Joe’s salad  or something like that…READ THE LABEL!  I was shocked when one salad had 500 calories!  Just because there’s lettuce in it, doesn’t mean it’s not loaded with cals.

Set the alarm!

So I was flipping through some pages of SELF and saw this little tip from celebrity trainer, Rod Parr.  In his new book, Star Quailty, Parr claims his best tip is to work out at the same time every day!  This will establish the consistency needed to reach your weight loss goals!!!  Who knew it was that simple?  Now I just have to get my happy ass out of bed in the morning lol.

Put the bread down and no one gets hurt!

So I was catching up on my SELF.com reading and found this!  I totally do it too haha! Every Friday, I have date night with my boyfriend and I will barely eat all day so I can go crazy at dinner.  Hey yummy Italian sounds way better than carrot sticks right?  Well I need to buckle down dammit.  Here’s the clip below.

Meal mistake: Gorging on bread

Women ask for “extra bread, always, and then ask for more. Lots of butter, too,” says a server at a family restaurant in Lincoln City, Oregon. “We dished out honey butter, which was spiked with sugar,” says a waitress who worked at a bar and grill in Hanover, New Hampshire. And a former bartender at a seafood chain noted, “The cheesy biscuits were already swiped with melted butter, so you got a double dose [of fat].” You can consume hundreds of calories before the main course hits the table.

Bust your bread habit Avoid arriving hungry, says Keri Gans, R.D., a spokeswoman in New York City for the American Dietetic Association. “A lot of women save their calories when they know they’re going out to eat, so they’re ravenous when they sit down.” Snack on fruit and a handful of nuts an hour or so beforehand; choose a bread stick or a small whole-grain roll and dip it lightly in olive oil. A study in the International Journal of Obesity revealed that diners who used olive oil ate 23 percent less bread than those spreading on butter.

Buckwheat pasta baby!

I was flipping through the latest issue of SELF today and came across this great article on foods that help you slim down.  Well I was pretty shocked to see the word PASTA on their list!  Yeah…PASTA!  It’s a special kind called Buckwheat pasta and it’s loaded with fiber and protein, which help prevent blood sugar spikes.  It’s also harder to overeat Buckwkeat pasta, since it’s suoer filling.  I’m going to scour the aisles to see if anyone carries it here in Sac, but you can buy it online.  Just click the pic to order.  Let me know if you like it!

Work it out!

So I’ve been back in the gym working on my fitness and can I just tell you…this machine is a gift from the exercise Gods!  I LOVE IT!  The Treadclimber burns so many calories in 30 minutes it’s not even funny.  PLUS it’s a low impact work out.  It just feels like you’re hiking and it’s awesome!  I know 24Hr has em.  Click the pic for more and happy work out!

Brake for breakfast!

So I was catching up on my Hungry-Girl emails this morning and came across this!  I love Smart Ones deserts (they’re incredible), so naturally I was stoked to see they are coming out with a line of breakfast foods!  Yum YUMMMMM!  You can click the pic above to see the new line.  The English Muffin sandwich looks sooo good!  According to Hungry-Girl they all are between 210 - 240 calories, 5 - 7 grams fat and 4-5 WW POINTS.  Perfect to start your day!  Enjoy:)

Have a ball!

 I see these all over and never really tried one out until last night at 24 Hr.  Well…lemme tell ya, these fitness balls are awesome!  I did a core work out with my girls, Danna and Lindsay, and boy was it hard.  You feel the burn lol.  Plus, Kelly (Wake Up Call) told me you can use them at work instead of a chair, while you’re watching TV, etc.  It all strengthens your core.  Click the pic to see a site I found that shows you all kinds of different exercises to try with your fitness ball.  I need to pick one of these up stat!  You can buy them pretty much everywhere, but I’ve seen them at Ross or TJ Maxx for waaay less money.  Work it out girls!

when life gives you lemons…MAKE LEMON WATER!

Yup yup yup!  Lemon is nature’s diuretic baby!  It flushes you out and is super for weight loss!  My girl, Deana, told me about it after my body wrap at Pura Vida.  SO I’ve been downing this stuff for the past two days and lemme tell ya I’ve never pee’d so much in my life haha!  Still I felt so flippin skinny this morning and who doesn’t love that right?  Try to use fresh lemon if you can (it’s works better).  Ok that’s it!  Enjoy!
